What a disappointment to hear that Mark White, the tourism guy from Utah (who enthusiastically accepted the top job at RSCVA) has changed his mind. That's right, he's not coming after all. Family issues. It's like your prom date leaving you halfway through the evening for the blonde he's known for years. You get your hopes up, and wham. Dreams shattered. We've been on a positive roll lately, with the chambers merging and the school district sharpening its act. We're ready to excel.
Utah has been attracting new tourists and businesses, and wouldn't it be cool to learn from someone who has been on the ground there and knows their strategies. It sounds like he's staying in Utah because of his wife and kids. I understand that. Businessman, father, husband. It's his job to make many people's dreams come true. We were just hoping he might make some of ours come true here in the Northern Nevada.
As someone told me lately, we have the raw materials. We still have all the things that have drawn people here for decades. We just need a little help telling people about what we have to offer. The help will come. For now it's up to us.
