The dog days of summer have arrived, and to celebrate, public relations execs at the Glenn Group held a "Take Your Dog to Work Day" fair for employees, clients and anyone who wanted to stop by. Joining with the national event, the Glenn Group transformed its parking lot into a pop-up dog mob, with booths, prizes and even a wading pool to keep the summer heat at bay (no pun intended, but I couldn't resist.)
Valerie Glenn told me she encourages employees to bring their well-behaved canines to work on a regular basis. "It's a wonderful stress reducer for our employees," she said.
The Glenn Group often has dogs roaming the halls and sitting quietly under desks. "Our clients love it! Our dogs go to client meetings with us and we have a blast," Glenn added.
Research has shown that animals can help lower people's stress levels; something the Glenn Group has taken to heart. "We always enjoy doing fun, creative things here," Glenn told me. The Glenn group has been 'dog-friendly' for more than 15 years. This is the second year the agency has held the parking lot festival for canines. Last year more than 50 dogs and their owners took part in the event.
Local pet companies joined the festivities with booths and training demonstrations and a $5 dog wash for pooches needing a bath. Healthy Tails provided gift bags for contest prizes and goody bags for attendees and Sugarland Ranch brought adoptable dogs. Rob from The X was there and Dan's Dogs sold hot dogs for a dollar. Beyond Obedience conducted a training demonstration in the parking lot.
If you missed it this time, look for next year's national Take Your Dog to Work Day. You can bet the Glenn Group will be out in their parking lot in Reno, tails wagging and tongues hanging out. The dogs… not the employees.
